Artist’s Statement
David Spencer, photographer: “I'm a big fan of vintage photography. The art of Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Brassai, Steichen and Elliot Porter to name a few is what drew me, so naturally black and white became my favorite medium. Barns, cars, tools, and pretty much anything weathered and worn will pique my curiosity. As old barns and historic buildings are being torn down and landscapes repurposed, I hope that my photography evokes a sense of nostalgia in the viewer and perhaps a greater appreciation for the past. We can't stop time but we can admire it's handywork.
I was born in Maine and I'm very happy to be living here once again. Maine is perfect for me as time and history seems to move more slowly."
